Once you know the program you'd like to pursue, you're ready to take the next step. Be sure to review program admissions requirements early so you have plenty of time to gather necessary materials and meet deadlines.
 

Standardized tests are a crucial part of the application process for many graduate and law programs. Common tests include the GRE for graduate school and the LSAT for law school. 

Start by researching which tests are required for your programs of interest. Give yourself ample time to prepare by creating a study schedule, using prep books, and taking practice tests. Consider enrolling in a prep course if you need additional support. Remember, your test scores can significantly impact your application, so aim to perform your best.

Choose recommenders who know you well and can speak to your academic abilities, work ethic, and character, such as professors, research advisors, or employers. Approach them with a polite and professional request, explaining why you are applying and why you value their recommendation. 

Provide them with your resume, personal statement, and details about the programs you’re applying to. Ask for letters well in advance of your deadlines—ideally, at least two to three months before—to give them ample time to write a thoughtful and detailed letter.

Your essays and personal statements are your opportunity to showcase your unique story, motivations, and qualifications. Start by carefully reading the prompts and understanding what each program is looking for. Be honest and reflective in your writing, highlighting your experiences, achievements, and goals. Make sure to proofread your essays multiple times and consider seeking feedback from mentors or peers to ensure clarity and impact.
