The Focus 2 assessment is a comprehensive tool designed to help you discover majors and careers that align with your interests and personality. It typically takes about 60-90 minutes to complete and includes a variety of questions about your interests, values, personality, skills, and leisure activities. By taking the time to thoughtfully answer these questions, you’ll gain valuable insights into potential career paths and work environments that suit you best. This can be a fun and enlightening process, helping you to make informed decisions about your future.

“Holland Code” is a fun way to explore your work interests by categorizing them into six types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. By discovering your top Holland Codes through Focus 2, you can find careers and work environments that align with your interests and personality, helping you choose a path that feels just right for you. Here’s a quick look at each type:

  • Realistic: Enjoys practical, hands-on activities and working with tools or machines.
  • Investigative: Loves researching, analyzing, and solving problems, often in scientific or mathematical fields.
  • Artistic: Values creativity and self-expression, often through art, music, or writing.
  • Social: Likes helping others, teaching, and working in cooperative environments.
  • Enterprising: Enjoys leading, persuading, and managing projects or people, often in business or politics.
  • Conventional: Prefers structured tasks, organization, and working with data or details.

If your Focus 2 results don’t match your goals, don’t worry! Start by thinking about why they differ and what new interests they might reveal. Chat with a career counselor at the office of Career Design and Development or academic advisor for some helpful insights. Dive into the suggested careers and majors to see if there’s something exciting you hadn’t considered. Stay open to adjusting your goals and plan some steps to explore both your current interests and the new areas suggested by Focus 2.
